Membranes are universally used for filtration of waters and wastewaters in circumstances where the water quality is predictable and scaling and fouling potential is managed by pre-treatment. Different membrane technologies are used depending on what needs to be removed from water, including microfiltration (MF), ultrafiltration (UF), nanofiltration (NF) and reverse osmosis (RO).
The difference between technologies is the size of the membrane pores, resulting in the removal of different water impurities. High pressure is applied on the feed water side of the membrane to force water through small pores, producing treated water and a brine (waste stream).

RO is a key component of our HIROX® (high recovery RO) technology, making RO one of our key focuses. Our design engineers use a range of modelling software packages during detailed design to optimise flowsheets and model water recovery and scaling. Along with RO we can also provide MF, NF, UF, DTRO, CCRO and EDR/EDI systems.
